Faro Santander
The new cultural venue that is transforming the Paseo de Pereda
Historic building
A new chapter begins
Faro Santander is a hub where art, culture and technology come together, supported by the Banco Santander Foundation in the very heart of the city.
Housed in the historic Pereda Building, it offers an innovative programme open to all, with exhibitions and experiences that invite visitors to discover, learn and enjoy.

Transformation
David Chipperfield
The refurbishment of Faro Santander has been led by David Chipperfield, one of the most internationally renowned contemporary architects and winner of the 2023 Pritzker Prize.
The aim has not been to erase the building’s history, but to adapt it to its new cultural function whilst preserving its architectural identity and creating new spaces for exhibitions, activities and gatherings.
The result combines historical elements with a contemporary intervention, placing particular emphasis on light, open spaces and the building’s relationship with the Paseo de Pereda and the bay.
