Get ready to shine! Discover Cantabria at your own pace

After getting through (almost the whole of) spring, we realise that this season has been a physical and personal challenge. It’s the perfect time to return to our healthy routines, but in an even more fun way!

After getting through (almost the whole of) spring, we realise that this season has been a physical and personal challenge. It’s the perfect time to return to our healthy routines, but in an even more fun way!

Imagine a combination of exercise and delicious, healthy cuisine, as you explore the breathtaking scenery of Cantabria. Sounds great, right?

Let’s begin with our first recommendation for keeping fit: the Camino Lebaniego hiking route. Travelling the 72-kilometre path that goes from San Vicente de la Barquera to the Santo Toribio Monastery is not just a fantastic plan, but also an opportunity to refresh your mind and body during a 3 to 5-day getaway.

Habario de Pendes

Our second recommendation is to explore the city of Santander by following the coast. Whether you prefer to walk or cycle, taking a trip along the bay from the Centro Botín to the Cabo Mayor Lighthouse is truly invigorating thanks to the breathtaking scenery that surrounds us here.

For those eager to learn about history while they keep fit, exploring the Napoleonic forts on Mount Buciero in Santoña is an excellent option. This route, which is 8.5 kilometres long, allows you to explore major fortifications while enjoying the fresh breeze from the Cantabrian Sea.

Beyond these experiences, we also recommend another exciting way to get your body moving in Cantabria: by completing a Naturea Cantabria self-guided tour (ruta autoguiada). These routes are marked and signposted, with a total of 36 routes for you to enjoy nature at your own pace. From mountain trails to coastal paths, these self-guided routes allow you to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Cantabria while you exercise and relax.

And we couldn’t forget a family experience in the Pasiegos Valleys, where you can walk along the Yera river, admire the lush greenery and discover the abandoned Yera station. The perfect adventure for all!

Valles Pasiegos

We finish our recommendations with a reminder of the importance of combining exercise with a healthy diet. From fresh salads to delicious locally-sourced meat and fish dishes, Cantabria offers a range of delicious options.
