Former train tracks that over the past decade have been converted into cycling and walking routes administered under a Spanish Railways Foundation programme called Vías Verdes.

Perhaps more than anything, Cantabria is a paradise for lovers of nature, the great outdoors, and adventure. And it all comes together up in its mountains in a special way in its “via ferratas”
Today's post takes us on a unique and different journey. As you know, we love to offer you different ways to travel through our region.
With 220 kilometres of coastline, there's a lot to cover. We could focus on the cliffs, the beaches, the hiking trails and all sorts of other things.
According to the Royal Academy of the Spanish Language, a “mirador” (or vantage point) is “a place which is well-located to contemplate a landscape or event”.

Hiking was very much on the agenda across the trip on northen Spain, but it was Cantabria that really brought the Camino to life for me. This is where I had a real insight into life on the Camino, and where I saw some of the most amazing landscapes I’ve ever come across in Spain.
